Dear LMU Community:
It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing of emeritus professor Kuen-Puo “Ken” Chuang, who taught civil engineering in the Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering for 27 years. Ken died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 21, at his home in Westchester. He was 78 years old.
During his tenure at LMU, Ken was responsible for teaching the structural engineering sequence in the Department of Civil Engineering. He was a demanding instructor and was well known for his outstanding lectures. He also modernized the structural testing laboratory.
Ken earned his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois and taught for several years at the University of Oklahoma before coming to LMU in 1966. He retired in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Sue-May, and three sons, Frank, Thomas, and Ernest, each of them engineers.
Private funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s name to: Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering, c/o Alma Vorst, Loyola Marymount University, Suite 2800, 1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
Please keep Ken and the Chuang family in your prayers.
Sincerely,
