Jan. 15, 2015
Dear LMU Community:
It is with sadness that I inform you of the death of Emmett Jacobs, emeritus professor of theatre arts. Emmett, who was 83 years old, passed away Jan. 11 with his family by his side.
Emmett began his teaching career at LMU in the fall of 1968 and was elected chair of the Department of Theatre Arts from 1968-76. He was awarded Theatre Arts Faculty Emeriti status in 1995-96. His great love of teaching and mentoring students continued after his retirement. He taught voice development on a part-time basis in the Department of Theatre Arts until the fall of 2007.
Emmett's funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at La Tijera United Methodist Church, 7400 Osage Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90045, where his stepdaughter Lyda Arrington is pastor leader. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "United Methodist Church, Emmett Jacobs Memorial Fund."
Please keep Emmett and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
David W. Burcham
President
