Edwar Iskandar
A message from the President
Feb. 23, 2021
Dear LMU Community:
I am saddened to share that Edwar Iskandar, an electrician with Facilities Management for 32 years, unexpectedly passed away on Feb. 15, 2021. He was 70 years old.
Mr. Iskandar joined LMU in August 1989 as an electrician, and in the course of his career was promoted to a senior multicraft specialist.
Mr. Iskandar embodied LMU’s mission and mentored countless team members during his tenure. He worked across units, cultures, and other boundaries to impact the community positively. Mr. Iskandar was the department’s electrical historian, and his intricate knowledge of our Westchester campus played a major role in FM’s response to emergency situations. His customer-service orientation and creativity provided solutions to unexpected challenges and were hallmarks of his persona. His support was also instrumental to the university’s successful hosting of the 2019 DNC Presidential Debate.
Two of Mr. Iskandar’s children are LMU graduates: Monica ’04, who holds a B.S. in biochemistry, and Cindy ’05, who holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 26 at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, 1600 S. Robertson Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90035. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the church is limiting attendance, so the service will be for family only. While flowers or donations are not expected, you may send arrangements to the service, and any funds received will be used to offset funeral expenses.
Please keep Edwar, his family, and his many friends in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D.
President
